Cross-Contamination of Gluten

Cross-Contamination
When preparing gluten-free foods, it is important to avoid cross-contamination. Cross-contamination occurs when foods or ingredients come into contact with gluten, generally through shared utensils or a shared cooking/storage environment. In order for food to be safe for someone with celiac disease, it must not come into contact with food containing gluten.
Places where cross-contamination can occur
Toasters used for both gluten-free and regular bread
Flour sifters
deep fried foods cooked in oil shared with breaded products
Shared containers including improperly washed containers
Condiments such as butter, peanut butter, jam, mustard, and mayonnaise may become contaminated when utensils used on gluten-containing food are double-dipped
Wheat flour can stay airborne for many hours in a bakery (or at home) and contaminate exposed preparation surfaces and utensils or uncovered gluten-free products.
Oats Only farm pure oats can be used
Non-certified baked goods e.g. “gluten-free” goods from otherwise gluten-containing bakeries
Bulk bins (most common contamination) at grocery stores
If In Doubt, Go Without!
If you are unable to verify questionable ingredients, or if an ingredient list is unavailable, don’t eat the product. Regardless of how much you plan on eating, it is not worth triggering your immune system. Remember that for people with celiac disease, damage to the small intestine occurs each and every time gluten is consumed, whether symptoms are present or not. If you accidentally ingest gluten, stop eating immediately, as higher doses can be increasingly damaging.

My aunt is also having the same problem like son, she's too allergic to wheat. And we are having problem finding gluten free edibles.
I'd b grateful if u could tell us abotu the places in Kathmandu where all such edibles are available.
Sincerely,
Riya Poddar

Hi Riya,

even we faced such problems in Kathmandu.
there are lots of my foreigner friends who faced such problems during their travel tour to Nepal.. but now i am providing them gluten free products according to their demands and requirement in Kathmandu you will only find some biscuits in some of the departmental stores.we are the only one who is providing gluten free products like, flour, matthi, cookies, laddu, papad, cakes, etc and b'de parties catering. all these are provided as per order. these products take time to prepare due to the grains we select and the sufficient time consuming process to make them very authentic and 100% gluten free. we assure for the authenticity and the nutrition value. even in taste they are awesome.
if you need any. you have to order.
thank you.

i have a son 3 years old... and he is having wheat allergy...  being a mother i cant see my son not able to eat and drink lots of things.. like.. breads, biscuits, chocolates, cakes, ice-creams , and many more..... i know its easy at abroad cooperating with this allergy, bcoz, they have gluten free products there. but in Nepal.. its quite tough.... we don't have such facilities....

i dint gave up.... i got flour mill from India... and i prepare flour from maize, millet, sorghum, soy, and different cereals. now i make different  products for my son that also very healthy and home made.
I just want to invite those frens of mine who is having this problem . and they have come to Kathmandu, Nepal. they just don't need to get disappoint...they can always call me for gluten free food items... and they can even stay with us in gluten free environment.
